Finally another Finish!

Finally I have a finish to add to the tally of the Winter 2012 - UFO Group!
It’s my Mini Springy Batik.

In the end I used it to practice free motion quilting and serged the edges instead of binding it (as it’s not much bigger than a FQ). I may bind it down the road, but for now my little human is plenty fine with it not being bound ;) I enjoyed doing the FM quilting but can’t imagine doing it on anything much larger with my current set up :(

In action already! :)

As you can see it’s not much bigger top to bottom than my ironing board.

Now to decide how to quilt Baby Lola's stack & whack quilt. Seeing as going the FM quilting route isn't going to be very straight forward at this point, due to my current sewing set up :(

Winter 2012 - UFO Group

Well it looks as though my list hasn't changed much for this round. (I'll be referring back to my summer 2011 - UFO group list for pictures and details on what needs to be fone for each ufo.) I wanted to add 4 more project that I recently bought fabric & patterns for... But alas with the husby home, holidays, company, the flu doing its rounds & so on and so forth, I just wasn't able to get a start on any of them. I will add the flaming strips to my list.... (Hopefully I'll think up a better name for it ;)& the charmed lap blanket. I'm making this post from my phone & unfortunately I'm not able to load a pic off of my phone into the post. I will come back tag and add the pics when I have access to my pc. Happy quilting! :)

Just in the nick of time!

With moments to spare!!! That is enough time to take & load pics, blog & post to Ravelry! :)

I have managed top finish the Crib size Trip Around the World!

Front

Front & back

This is certainly not a quilt that I will take anymore pics of or be gifting with pride. I may in fact gift it to the local RCMP for victim services. It's hokey and not square... but I guess that's what you get when you pic up a top that's made with a mish mash of fabric bits from way back when.

Oh well c'est lavie :)

Just in time?

Will it be just in time... or will it be carried over again this time though to the UFO - Winter 2012 group?

I'm going to see if I can get it done before midnight!

I currently have all of the materials & supplies needed to complete the quilt top & turn it into a finished quilt... but then again I've had them for some time now.

Hence the point of joining in on to UFO - Fall 2011 group ;)

Apologies for the poor pic.

Alexis' Quilt

Well after a few twists and turn in the project it's finally done! I'm very happy with the outcome & hope that the wee one and her family will be as well. The completed size is 48" x 48". I quite like it but don't really care for square quilts.... If I were to do this particular pattern again I would make it rectangular as they just seem to be more practical to me. But I digress.

Without further ado here is the photographic evidence:

Another FO so soon! :)

Well as it turns out I have managed to turn another UFO into an FO! :) Yay for getting in quilting / sewing time!

The FO of the hour is the crib / lap quilt from my Summer 2011 - UFO group on Ravelry. It's the 10th quilt down. I'm not entirely sure when or where the fabric came from or how it even came to be a UFO. But as it turns out it only needed a bit more more to call it an FO. I went for the birthing / pillowcase method rather than binding it. It's a pretty low quality fabric all in all & the batting appears to be an old crib size mattress cover. So I didn't want to add any nice quilting cottons onto it for that reason alone. I do quite like one of the fabrics though & maybe in another time would have tried to pull some of it off of the top and replace it with something else, but I didn't. It's real cute, it has wee people on it, they spear to be walking & the smaller ones appear to be ready to throw either a ball or a snow ball! Very cute. Also at first glance I thought that the man in the blue coat was a policeman, but upon further inspection he appears to be a businessman. I figured this would be a good quilt to try out free motion quilting, so I did a smaller stipple along both of the long sides, I like way that it looks too so that's s bonus! For the body of the quilt I did a very wavy line back and forth, also using the free motion style.

All in all I'm satisfied with the quilt..... It certainly could have been better, but what is one to do when you pull it out of a bin and it's all sandwiched together and ready to go?! I'm not sure what will come if this wee vintage fabric quilt, but I'm sure someone will enjoy it. :)

Thanks for looking!

Ta ta for now!

FO - Summer 2011 BQ

Well here It's nearly midnight and I'm making a quick post. I finally finished another quilt... It has been waiting for the binding for just over a week. I came across a pin over at Pinterest about a new to me way of doing binding. It's a great tutorial with step by step details, measurements and pictures! I was totally keen on giving it a go, so as it had turned out this quilt was ready and waiting! It's my BQ quilt. I don't have pics or links ATM but in the morning I will update with pics and links! But for now I'm just happy to have another finish to speak of ;)

Will be back in the am!
Gnight all :) I'm back with the pics as promised! They aren't very good in the color dept :( But they will have to do... Top.
